FIB USU PR - On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities, University of North Sumatra (FIB USU), received guidance from the University of North Sumatra's Quality Assurance Agency (BPM) regarding the preparation and strengthening of the Library and Information Science Study Program accreditation. This briefing was attended by faculty leaders, study program managers, lecturers, and related educational staff.

The briefing aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the policies, standards, and internal and external quality assurance mechanisms that form the basis of the study program accreditation process. In their presentation, the USU BPM team emphasized the importance of aligning the vision, mission, and learning outcomes of graduates with the accreditation standards set by the national accreditation agency.

Furthermore, the USU BPM also provided detailed explanations regarding the preparation and updating of accreditation documents, from self-evaluation and the preparation of forms to the accurate, measurable, and sustainable management of data and supporting evidence. The Library and Information Science Study Program is encouraged to continuously improve the quality of its governance, learning processes, research, and community service as part of its overall academic quality improvement efforts.

In the discussion session, lecturers and program managers raised various questions and addressed challenges faced in preparing for accreditation. The Library and Information Science Advisory Board (BPM) of USU provided strategic responses and solutions, including recommendations for strengthening the documentation system, increasing internal collaboration, and optimizing the role of quality assurance units at the faculty and study program levels.

The Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of USU expressed his appreciation for the guidance and assistance provided by the BPM. This guidance is considered crucial in ensuring the Library and Information Science Study Program's readiness for the accreditation process, as well as providing momentum for continuous evaluation and improvement in the implementation of higher education.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of USU is committed to continuously enhancing a culture of academic quality and superior institutional governance. It is hoped that the results of this BPM guidance will strengthen the position of the Library and Information Science Study Program in achieving optimal accreditation and supporting the University of North Sumatra's vision as a world-class university.
