"Several study programs at FIB have their own uniqueness, for example the Ethnomusicology Study Program, the Batak Literature Study Program. We really hope to get knowledge from Prof. Dr. I Made Narsa on how to link graduate profiles with local wisdom, local needs or be linked to the uniqueness of the study program. The smooth exchange of opinions in this workshop will depend greatly on "on questions that encourage participants to think more deeply," said the dean of FIB USU.
On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) carried out Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Technical Guidance which took place at the Le Polonia Hotel. The guidance was attended by the Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., Vice Dean I Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D., Chair and Secretary of the Batak Literature Study Program, Japanese Literature, Ethnomusicology, Historical Science, and Library and Information Science. This guidance also invited Prof. Dr. I Made Narsa, SE., M.Si., Ak., CA. from Universitas Airlangga as resource person.
USU is carrying out transformation through a tagline initiated by USU's Rector Prof. Dr. Murianto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., namely Transformation Towards the Ultimate. USU is also implementing Phase II of the RENSTRA, namely USU Towards Internationalization through World Class University (WCU) programs. Apart from that, USU is also pursuing the Main Performance Indicator (IKU) target of 1-8 as other universities are struggling in the Legal Entity State University (PTNBH) league. One of them is strengthening the OBE-based curriculum.
FIB continues to improve itself and continues to try to make changes to achieve targets and maximum results. FIB has 10 undergraduate study programs and 4 master's study programs and 1 doctoral study program. Five study programs, including the Undergraduate Study Program in English Literature, Arabic Literature, Indonesian Literature, Chinese Language, and Malay Literature, have submitted SERs to the FIBAA International Institute which is facilitated by USU's Quality Assurance Agency (BPM). FIB is preparing itself for International Accreditation, several study programs within FIB have been selected by the USU's Quality Assurance Agency to be included in the international accreditation program. For this reason, the USU's Quality Assurance Agency and USU's LINK UP have designed several activities to prepare study programs at USU for international accreditation.
"We know that one of the important components towards international accreditation is the implementation of an appropriate Outcome Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum. A curriculum that is in line with the needs of the world of education in facing the speed of technology use and innovation production. We also know that the OBE curriculum can bridge the gap between the educational process in higher education with the real world (the world of work)," said the Dean of USU FIB.
The Dean of FIB USU hopes that at today's workshop, Prof. Dr. I Made Narsa can explain about preparing graduate profiles/Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) by adjusting Human Resources (HR) and then how they are reduced to Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK). Likewise, you can review the OBE curriculum which has previously been designed by several study programs within FIB.
We hope that the study program chairs and secretaries, study program lecturers and expert staff present in this room will be enthusiastic in asking questions regarding the development of this OBE-based curriculum and the current developments in promoting MBKM.
