Indonesia's rich cultural diversity is one of its greatest strengths and defining identities. Yet, in an era of rapid change and the transition into the new normal, preserving cultural heritage requires more than simply honoring the past—it calls for active participation from the younger generation. Responding to this challenge, the Batak Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Regional Language and Literature Students (IMBASADI), organized Temu Budaya Nusantara under the theme "Preserving Local Culture and the Environment in the New Normal Era." The event served as a collaborative platform where students from across Indonesia came together to exchange ideas, strengthen friendships, and reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the nation's cultural heritage.

Held from March 17–25, 2021, the program featured a wide range of activities that combined academic discussions, cultural performances, and community engagement. Participants took part in a National Seminar, Nusantara Cultural Parade, Cultural Performances, the IMBASADI National Congress, and Cultural Tours, all designed to deepen their understanding of Indonesia's diverse traditions. The event also included various competitions, such as Scientific Paper Writing, Scientific Poster Design, Poetry Visualization, Drama Festival, Nusantara TikTok Festival, and the IMBASADI Cultural Ambassador Competition, demonstrating that cultural preservation can be expressed through creativity, innovation, and digital platforms that resonate with today's youth.

More than just an annual gathering, Temu Budaya Nusantara became a meaningful opportunity to build networks, exchange inspiration, and cultivate pride in Indonesia's cultural identity. Through this event, the Batak Literature Study Program reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people to become active guardians of regional languages, literature, and cultural traditions. It highlighted that when tradition is combined with creativity, collaboration, and innovation, cultural heritage not only survives but continues to grow, inspire, and remain relevant for future generations.
