FIB USU Batak Literature Lecturer Participates in Nusantara LGR Discussions at ICANN87 Meeting in Bali Dr. Immanuel Silaban, S.S., M.Si., a lecturer in the Batak Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in a meeting initiated by the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Manager (PANDI) to discuss the Nusantara Label Generation Rules (LGR) for Batak, Bugis, and Sundanese languages and scripts. The meeting took place during the ICANN87 gathering from 17 to 20 October 2026 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. This initiative supports the representation of Indonesian regional languages and scripts within the global internet domain name system while promoting the preservation of Indonesia’s linguistic and cultural diversity in the digital era. 17 October 2026

Head of the Arabic Literature Study Program at FIB USU Attends Association Meeting and National Seminar at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten The Head of the Arabic Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in the Association Meeting of Arabic Literature Study Programs across Indonesia and a National Seminar held at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten from 15 to 18 October 2026. During the event, the Head of the Arabic Literature Study Program at FIB USU was entrusted with the role of Vice Chair for Human Resources Development, contributing to organisational strengthening and the development of human resources in Arabic language and literature education. 15 October 2026

Head of the Undergraduate History Study Program at FIB USU Attends International Seminar and PPSI National Congress at Universitas Sebelas Maret The Head of the Undergraduate History Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in the ICCuLL 2026 International Seminar, a national seminar entitled “History in the Digital Era: Developing an Inclusive, Adaptive, and Sustainable Ecosystem,” and the National Congress (Musyawarah Nasional or Munas) of the Indonesian Association of History Study Programs (Perkumpulan Program Studi Sejarah se-Indonesia or PPSI). The events were held at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta, Central Java, from 15 to 17 October 2026. The participation resulted in the signing of two cooperation agreements in the form of Implementation Arrangements (IAs) with PPSI and UNS, strengthening academic networks and supporting the development of history education. 15 October 2026

FIB USU Promotes Health Awareness through a Free Health Check-Up Roadshow The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), supports greater health awareness among its academic community through a Free Health Check-Up (CKG) Roadshow in collaboration with the Padang Bulan Community Health Center (UPT Puskesmas Padang Bulan). The event was scheduled for Thursday, 15 October 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) at the FIB USU Meeting Room. The initiative was intended for lecturers, educational staff, and students to encourage greater attention to personal health while strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and healthcare providers. 15 October 2026

WEAVING GLOBAL LITERACY IN THE DIGITAL ERA: JAPANESE LITERATURE STUDY PROGRAM, FIB USU, AND UNAND ORGANIZE NATIONAL COLLABORATIVE SEMINAR SERIES-2 The Japanese Literature Study Program of FIB USU and FIB UNAND, in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, Jakarta, held the National Collaborative Seminar Series-2 on October 15, 2026. The seminar discussed the digitalization of Japanese culture as a medium for global literacy through the perspectives of cultural education, manga, intercultural translation, and figurative language in bilingual print media. 15 October 2026

FIB USU Professor Mulyadi Presents Linguistic Analysis of the Phrase “One Supreme Audit Board” in Constitutional Court Proceedings Professor Mulyadi, a Professor at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), provided expert testimony in linguistics during proceedings at the Constitutional Court of Indonesia on Wednesday, 14 October 2026. In his testimony, Professor Mulyadi analysed the phrase “one independent and autonomous Supreme Audit Board” in Article 23E paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia from a linguistic perspective, focusing particularly on syntax, semantics, and orthography. His analysis highlighted the linguistic meaning of constitutional texts and the importance of accurately interpreting legal terminology. 14 October 2026

Head of the Master’s Program in Arts Creation and Study at FIB USU Attends National Association Meeting and International Seminar at Universitas Sebelas Maret The Head of the Master’s Program in Arts Creation and Study at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in the National Association Meeting and an international seminar held at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta, Central Java, from October 14 to 18, 2026. The activities strengthened academic networks and inter-institutional collaboration, resulting in two cooperation documents for FIB USU. 14 October 2026

FIB USU Lecturer Dra. Roma Ayuni Aminoeddin Loebis, M.A., Earns Doctoral Degree with an A Grade at USU Dra. Roma Ayuni Aminoeddin Loebis, M.A., successfully completed her doctoral studies in the Doctoral Program in Regional Planning at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), earning an A grade on Monday, 12 October 2026. Her dissertation, entitled “A Model of Community Participation in Sustainable Tourism through English Language Proficiency,” examines the role of English language proficiency in supporting community participation in sustainable tourism development. 12 October 2026

Featuring Prof. Nur Wulan, Dra., M.A., Ph.D., a professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, the lecture aimed to broaden students’ knowledge of literary theory and deepen their understanding of its application in literary research. 08 October 2026
