

FIB USU PR - On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Mandarin Language Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra held a public lecture with the theme "The Role of Mandarin in Tourism and Creative Industries: Academic Studies and Implementation" as a resource person Chairman, S.E., M.H, which was attended by Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. (Dean of FIB), Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D. (Vice Dean I), Mandarin Language Lecturer, FIB USU Students/I held by the T. Amin Ridwan FIB USU Building.
Vice Dean I Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D. delivered a speech at the beginning of the 2024/2025 semester, we are grateful that at the beginning of the semester we have received a lecture with a very interesting theme to discuss with the resource person who has been willing to attend for FIB Mandarin Language students.
Opportunity for students to be able to dialogue and expand their knowledge and gain experience from today's speakers who have a lot of experience in gaining knowledge.

Chairman, S.E., M.H, (head of the MNC Media branch who has expertise in language, tourism, and the creative industry) in the presentation of the Public Lecture with the theme "The Role of Mandarin in Tourism and the Creative Industry: Academic Studies and Implementation" aims to provide an understanding of the important role of Mandarin in the tourism sector and the creative industry, both from an academic and implementation perspective. Which explains how mastery of Mandarin can open up wider career opportunities, especially in attracting tourists from China and in creative industries such as translation and digital media.
This public lecture took place with high enthusiasm from the participants, which was shown through interactive discussion and question and answer sessions. Mastery of Mandarin has a strategic role in increasing competitiveness in the tourism sector and the creative industry. Therefore, students are expected to continue to develop Mandarin language skills in order to increase job opportunities and contribute to the development of the creative economy in Indonesia. Thus, this public lecture is expected to provide benefits for students in preparing themselves to face global competition.
