The public lecture went smoothly, students listened carefully to the speakers. It is hoped that there will be more activities inviting speakers from abroad to advance FIB in implementing USU's Key Performance Indicators program.
FIB USU PR - Friday, June 21 2024, the English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held a Public Lecture with the title "From Thesis to Publication: Tips for Language Studies Graduates". The public lecture was attended by the Secretary of the English Literature Study Program FIB USU, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf, S.Pd., M.A., Adjunct Professor who was invited by the English Literature study program, Prof. Nena Valdez, Ph.D. from Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei Darussalam, Head of the International Affairs Office (KUI) Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S., M.Hum., Lecturer Dr. Rusdi Noor Rosa, S.S., M.Hum. and students of English Literature study program FIB USU.
The public lecture also invited resource person Dedi Sanjaya, M.A., Manager, Research Management and Innovation Center, Universiti College Yayasan Pahang (UCYP), Malaysia. The resource person started by explaining how to formulate a title, the language must be simple to understand the purpose of learning in the first reading. Furthermore, the abstract must be informative, indicative and reflect the main 'story' of the article. The only opportunity to attract the reader's attention. Must be sharp, concise and accurate.
The introduction explains the background of the study, problem formulation, aims/objectives of the research and what questions you want to seek/study/measure. Literature review no more than 5 years after the article/paper was published. The research methodology describes the sample/participant selection technique; Probability or Non-Probability, research instruments, data collection procedures and techniques for analyzing qualitative or quantitative data. In elaborating the data, all tables and figures are properly cited in the text (APA format). Compare, Contrast, and Present Evidence to support results or findings by citing previous research.
