FIB USU PR - On Monday, March 30, 2026, the Undergraduate History Study Program of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), organized the National History Seminar I Webinar under the theme “The Role of Women in Education within Javanese and Malay Royal Families.” The event was conducted virtually via Zoom Meeting from 09:00 to 12:00 WIB.
The webinar was attended by lecturers and students within FIB USU as part of an initiative to strengthen academic insight in the field of history, particularly studies concerning the role of women in education within royal family settings.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by the Dean of FIB USU, T. Thyrhaya Zein, who officially opened the webinar. Also delivering remarks were Suprayitno, Chair of the Indonesian Historians Association (North Sumatra Chapter), and Agus Mulyana, Director of History and Museums at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia as well as Chair of the Indonesian Historians Association.
The webinar featured distinguished speakers in their respective fields, namely GKR Mangkubumi, who presented a topic titled “The Role of Women in Education in the Javanese Palace,” and T. Silvana Sinar, who delivered a presentation on “Noble Women in Family Education within the Malay Royal Court.” Both presentations provided valuable historical and cultural perspectives on the contributions of women to educational systems within royal environments.
The discussion session was moderated by Hayu Adi Darmarastri, who guided the presentation sessions and facilitated an interactive discussion with participants.
Through this webinar, participants were expected to broaden their understanding of the strategic role of women in royal family education and its relevance to the development of history and culture in Indonesia. Furthermore, the event served as an academic platform to promote more inclusive and gender-perspective historical studies within higher education institutions.
