FIB USU PR - Friday, June 28th 2024, the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) welcomed students who had returned from the Internship Program at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The welcoming was attended by the Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., Vice Dean III Mhd. Pujiono. S.S., M.A., Ph.D., Chair and Secretary of the Study Program at FIB USU. In this activity, students briefly presented about their journey and work program at UKM.
The Dean in her speech said that the most important thing in carrying out this industrial internship is work experience, and also the knowledge gained from foreign faculties or universities that can be applied. If there are weaknesses that have been received from semester 1 until now, this internship program is an opportunity to gain work experience abroad. This overseas experience will be included in your CV, and after completing college it will accompany your bachelor's diploma later.
The Dean said that there are several benefits in participating in the Internship program, which are improving skills, not only knowledge but skills. Skills are difficult to obtain if you don't go directly into the world of work. Next is building relationships or networking. The Dean thanked Dra. Mardiah Mawar Kembaren, M.A., Ph.D. (Head of the Malay Literature Study Program) who had built relationships with UKM at the beginning, then rebuilt by students, and later even more widely.
Train self-confidence and adapt. Even though Indonesia and Malaysia are one culture, the situation is different. Malaysia is a country with a Supreme Head (King) government system that has implemented excellent technology, so students are given the opportunity to build self-confidence and adapt there.
