Vice Dean III FIB USU Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D in her speech said that the Local wisdom refers to the values, traditions, knowledge, and practices passed down from generation to generation within a specific community or region. In the case of TALENTA, the Universitas Sumatera Utara, local wisdom plays a significant role in shaping the institution's cultural identity. The local wisdom of TALENTA is built upon four main pillars: teamwork, cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. These pillars reflect the values and beliefs of the Civitas Academic of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and are the foundation of the program's curriculum and activities.
One of the key principles of TALENTA is the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Lecturers and Students are encouraged to work together on group projects, participate in team-building exercises, and support one another in achieving their goals. This emphasis on teamwork helps students develop strong interpersonal skills and prepares them for the challenges of the professional world.
In today's, we will both take part in a seminar with the theme of Local Wisdom and Globalization in Southeast Asia. This seminar is a collaboration between the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and the Department of History, Faculty of Liberal and Arts, Thammasat University. It is hoped that activities between these two institutions will not stop here, but will result in other activities in the future.
Vice Chancellor III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt in her speech said that globalization is a challenge for local wisdom in the Southeast Asia region. On the other hand, local wisdom has become an important identity for people in Southeast Asia. This region is rich in local culture and linguistics, but due to globalization, local wisdom is experiencing significant challenges. Local wisdom is a value of local communities and strengthens solidarity between these communities. We can integrate local wisdom with the global world even though we are facing challenges from globalization itself. Local wisdom helps greatly in facing the challenges of globalization which changes the environment and so on. In this forum we can share innovative solutions to bridge local wisdom and globalization. I officially open this seminar, thank you.
