FIB USU PR - On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) carried out the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the FIB of Lancang Kuning University (UNILAK). The PKS took place in the USU FIB Meeting Room. The PKS was attended by FIB USU Dean Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A, Vice Dean 2 Dra. Heristina Dewi, M.Pd, Vice Dean 3 Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D, all FIB USU Study Program Chairs and Secretaries, and FIB UNILAK Dean Muhammad Kafrawi, S.S., M.Sn.
The Dean of FIB USU said that FIB USU has collaborated a lot with FIB UNILAK. Today FIB USU will extend this collaboration. FIB USU has 15 study programs consisting of 10 undergraduate study programs, 4 master's (postgraduate) study programs and 1 doctoral (doctoral) study program. FIB UNILAK and FIB USU have the same 4 study programs, namely Malay Literature, English Literature, Library Science, and Indonesian Literature. Because of the similarities in these study programs, FIB USU and FIB UNILAK can realize collaboration well. As per this signing, FIB USU and FIB UNILAK can jointly develop teaching. One way is by inviting FIB UNILAK to become a Teamwork or Team Teaching in the FIB USU Study Program.
"We hope that our human resources can also become Team Teaching, there will be collaboration in Research and Community Service and things that can be done to explore phenomenal problems around us. FIB USU has carry out USU's RENSTRA strategy, namely TALENTA, one of which is local content that is needed was appointed. We all support Key Performance Indicators (IKU) 1-8, then RENSTRA stage 2 towards Internationalization. In 2025, Insya Allah, will be Internationalized." said the Dean of FIB USU.
The Dean of FIB UNILAK said USU was a reference for UNILAK. FIB UNILAK has a new Study Program, namely the Malay Language Education Study Program. This can happen because in Riau, the local Malay content is extraordinary. Schools in Riau already have Malay Culture Subjects, meaning that Malay culture wants to be implemented at the University. UNILAK chose USU because it has a long history and is more experienced than UNILAK.
"There is also interest in FIB UNILAK, UNILAK must have someone who maintains culture, that's why we maintain culture. There is only one university that still maintains FIB, namely UNILAK. That is one of the prides for UNILAK which still maintains FIB to this day." said the Dean of FIB UNILAK.
