FIB USU PR - On Saturday, May 24, 2025, the Arts Creation and Studies study program of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences held a seminar entitled "Preserving Heritage, Responding to the Times: Sustainability Strategies for the Serampang Dua Belas Dance in the Context of Contemporary Malay Culture" as an effort to preserve traditional arts while simultaneously responding to the dynamics of contemporary developments.

This seminar discussed the importance of preserving the Serampang Dua Belas Dance as a Malay cultural heritage with high historical, aesthetic, and philosophical value. In the context of contemporary Malay culture, traditional dance is not only viewed as a relic of the past, but also as a cultural identity that needs to be continuously developed to remain relevant to the younger generation.

Through this forum, speakers presented various sustainability strategies, ranging from innovation in dance presentations, strengthening arts and culture education, to utilizing digital media for promotion and documentation. This interactive discussion is expected to broaden participants' horizons regarding the importance of collaboration between artists, academics, and the community in preserving cultural heritage.

By holding this seminar, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences affirms its commitment to continue playing an active role in the preservation and development of local culture, particularly Malay dance, so that it remains alive and adapts amidst the tide of modernization.
