FIB USU PR - On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, to commemorate Youth Pledge Day, which is celebrated every October 28, the Malay Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra (FIB USU), held a Literary Figure Discussion. The theme of this event was "Mozasa as a New Poet from Medan" and was attended by students, lecturers, and literary activists within the FIB USU environment.

This Literary Figure Discussion aimed to introduce and appreciate the role of Medan-based literary figures in the development of Indonesian literature, particularly those related to nationalism and youth. Through this discussion forum, participants were invited to understand Mozasa's creative journey as a New Poet and his contribution to enriching the national literary heritage.

The presentation highlighted Mozasa's historical position as a New Poet from Medan, who is able to bring a local perspective to national literary discourse. His works are seen as not only representing the dynamics of regional society but also voicing the anxieties and idealism of young people through reflective and critical literary language.

The discussion was interactive. Malay Literature students from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Sumatera Utara (USU) enthusiastically asked questions about the creative process, the challenges of being a writer in the modern era, and the relevance of literature in the lives of today's young generation. The dialogue that ensued reflected an intellectual spirit and creativity that aligns with youthful values.

In his remarks, the Head of the Malay Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Sumatera Utara, stated that this activity was part of the study program's efforts to provide contextual and inspiring learning for students. Through direct encounters with literary figures, students are expected to gain motivation, insight, and a deeper understanding of the role of literature in developing national character.

By holding this Literary Figure Discussion with the theme "Mozasa as a New Poet Literary Figure from Medan," the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Sumatera Utara, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of literature and culture, while simultaneously fostering the spirit of the Youth Pledge among the younger generation of academics. This activity is expected to strengthen students' appreciation of literature as a medium for expression, reflection, and the struggle for national values.
