FIB USU’s Indonesian Literature is not just a study program. It was here that I got to explore literature comprehensively. Choosing to study Indonesian Literature was not without reason, as back in high school, I used to write short stories for the Harian Waspada media. That fueled my passion for literature even more. In this Indonesian Literature Study Program, I learned much from the seniors about writing for the mass media. The seniors became mentors in literary writing. Since I joined in 1991, I have been writing literary essays and short stories for various local media, such as Harian Waspada and Harian Analisa. The support from the lecturers and seniors also encouraged me to write various drama scripts.

The Indonesian Literature Study Program is the one I desired the most during the university entrance exam in 2005. With Allah's permission, that desire came true. I have discovered many valuable lessons about literature and language and their roles in life and the future of sustainable living. I am aware that my knowledge is still limited and far from perfect. Therefore, I continue to strive for self-improvement by learning from experts, evaluating past shortcomings, and committing to lifelong learning. Alhamdulillah, the knowledge I have gained from the esteemed lecturers is applied to my activities as the Chairperson of the Riau Literature Community and as the manager of the digital literary portal named Riausastra.com. My love and concern for literature are manifestations of my commitment as a student that the knowledge I acquire should benefit society.
Furthermore, I pursue further education by studying various literary theories and applying them to literary works as a preventive measure and inventory of literary works, especially oral literature rich in local values and moral messages. Through scientific seminars and writings presented in the form of scientific papers, children's novels, children's stories, poems, short stories, and literary discussions, I demonstrate my active involvement in promoting literature.
I am fully aware that literary works are mirrors of civilization and can play roles as ecological custodians, economic supporters, ideological preservers, and political components. Therefore, literature must continuously preserve its existence from the past to the present and into the future.
