Information Science

Information Science

Information Science in Library and Information Science studies focuses on developing an in-depth understanding of the principles, theories and practices related to information management. The main focus is on the efficient and effective collection, storage, processing and dissemination of information. Students in this cohort learn to apply the latest information technologies that are constantly evolving. They understand how technology can accelerate information access and management, improve efficiency, and optimize the benefits of information for various needs, including research, decision-making, and scientific development. Along with the development of technology, students also understand the ethical and security aspects of information. They consider issues of privacy, data security and intellectual property rights to ensure that information is accessed, used and disseminated with proper ethics and in compliance with the law. One important component of the curriculum is learning how to organize information effectively. This includes an understanding of databases, information management systems, and information classification. Students are also trained to understand user needs and optimize information systems to meet their demands.

Learning Outcomes

After undergoing the learning process in the Library and Information Science Study Program, students will be able to apply managerial and organizational concepts in library institutions and other information institutions; apply standards for managing, developing, and preserving library materials and other information resources; apply guidelines for professional development in librarianship and other information service professions; apply standards for analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, transfer, dissemination, and information security; and collaborate and communicate in both academic and non-academic contexts. All of these abilities are carried out professionally with effective and efficient implementation of information and communication technology.
