FIB USU PR - On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the Linguistics Master's Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held a Workshop of Language Research Methods via Zoom Meeting. The workshop invited Prof. Dr. Mahsun, M.S. from Universitas Mataram and Prihantoro S.S., M.A., Ph.D. from Universitas Diponegoro as a resource person.

 

Today's language research workshop has become a valuable platform for participants to explore various aspects of research in the field of language. From talks about methodology to practical applications in data analysis, this workshop has provided a variety of in-depth insights.

 

One of the main points discussed is the importance of choosing the right methodology in language research. Participants are invited to consider the fit between their research question and an appropriate methodological approach, such as qualitative, quantitative, or a mix of the two.

 

Apart from that, the workshop also reviewed relevant data analysis techniques in language research. Starting from text analysis to discourse analysis, participants are given in-depth insight into how to process language data effectively to produce meaningful findings.

 

Not only that, discussions about research ethics are also an important focus in this workshop. Participants are invited to consider ethical principles in every stage of their research, from planning to publication of results.

 

Thus, this workshop not only provides a better understanding of methodology and data analysis in language research, but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining integrity and ethics in every step of research. We hope that the insights gained from this workshop can help participants in their future research journey.
