FIB USU PR - On 12 February 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), welcomed a delegation of students from SMA Swasta Advent Sei Bamban for an introduction to the Deep Learning (Merdeka Belajar) program initiated by the government. The visit was organized as part of an effort to provide students with broader insights into academic and co-curricular activities within a higher education environment.
The event was attended by Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D (Vice Dean of FIB USU), Adry Wiyanni Ridwan, S.S. (Head of Subdivision for Academic and Student Affairs/P2KM), as well as all Heads and Secretaries of the Study Programs within FIB USU.
The visit aimed to introduce the concept of Deep Learning–based education within the policy framework of the Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia through the Merdeka Belajar program. The Heads and Secretaries of the Study Programs explained that this approach encourages students to think critically, reflectively, and contextually, while integrating interdisciplinary learning that responds to contemporary challenges.
During the session, students were also introduced to various academic and co-curricular activities at FIB USU, including classroom learning processes, student organizations, self-development opportunities, and international collaboration programs. The discussion session was conducted in an interactive atmosphere, with students enthusiastically raising questions about study programs, career prospects, and campus life experiences.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of university life and be motivated to pursue higher education. The visit also reflects FIB USU’s commitment to supporting the dissemination of the Merdeka Belajar policy and strengthening synergy between higher education institutions and secondary schools in preparing competitive and high-achieving future generations.
