FIB USU PR - The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) held a series of celebrations for the 59th Anniversary on Friday-Saturday, November 1-2, 2024 with the theme “Culture as a National Asset”. The activities held on Friday, November 1, 2024 were the Stilt Race, Gobak Sodor, Team Clogs, Sack Race, Congklak and Regional Pop Song Competition.

 

 

 


On Saturday, November 2, 2024, there was a fun walk, Alumni Karaoke, Alumni Talk, Fashion Show and Karaoke between Study Programs. Also providing a Bazaar in the FIB USU Parking lot.
The fun walk which was also attended by the FIB academic community and enlivened by a drum band parade, aimed to improve health, as well as to establish ties between all members of the FIB USU extended family.

 

 

 


USU Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si provided support to the Dean and all study programs at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) to improve performance and achievements, with the aim of contributing to the progress of the University of North Sumatra (USU). On that occasion, the Chancellor also appealed to FIB to expand its network through various collaborative activities.


"Especially in relation to introducing Indonesian culture to the world," said the Chancellor.

 

 


 

USU FIB Dean Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M., said that the Dies Natalis which was held for two days was carried out to establish friendship.

 


"The first day was a competition between students that featured traditional games. Furthermore, on the second day, in collaboration with the alumni association to carry out fun walks, alumni karaoke, and also Alumni Talk which shared experiences and motivation with students and a cultural fashion show. Of course, to establish friendship and how alumni play a role in building the Faculty of Cultural Sciences," said the Dean.

 


The USU FIB Dean said that with the Internationalization program, it would introduce it to foreign countries. FIB USU has a unique culture from North Sumatra. Supporting it to become a cultural home and documentation center for language, literature, culture, history and others.

 


"We hope that from the characteristics and uniqueness that will later be raised to represent the Faculty of Cultural Sciences under the international," said the Dean of FIB.

 


On the 59th Anniversary, FIB also invited Alumni by presenting a talk show. The Dean of FIB USU said that this talk show is expected for students to share information from Alumni who have studied at FIB USU.

 


"Alumni from the 10 study programs can share information and motivate students," said the Dean.
Chairperson of the 59th Anniversary Committee of FIB USU Rahmadsyah Rangkuti, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., said that the theme taken was very relevant because of the internationalization program, FIB also participated in making culture an asset that continues to be maintained and preserved.

 


"Then we make this culture an asset that continues to show our identity as the Indonesian nation," he said.

 


In this Dies Natalis activity, FIB was enlivened by several competition events including Congklak, Terompah Beregu, Singing and so on.

 

 

In the Alumni Talk session, the Alumni shared their experiences and inspirations with students. The alumni shared their career journey stories, and provided motivation to the younger generation to continue to develop, contribute in various fields including playing a role in building FIB USU

 

 

 


"Most of the alumni who are here used to be involved in organizations, for the younger siblings, don't be afraid to organize, socialize, and build connections with alumni to get jobs more easily. However, it is important to consider positive things and avoid negative things. Knowledge is important, but it must always be accompanied by socializing," said Nurlin as an alumnus in the Alumni Talk session.

 


In addition, Nurlin also said that this celebration is an event to reflect on the long journey of FIB USU.
"The 59th Dies Natalis of FIB USU is an important momentum to reflect on the long journey of the faculty in serving the community and the nation. "This celebration is expected to be a motivation for the entire academic community to continue to move forward and work better," he said.
