FIB USU PR - On Friday, September 26, 2025, the Mandarin Language Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra (FIB USU), held a public lecture with the theme "Synergy of Education and Culinary Arts: The Key to Success in Becoming a Multi-Sector Entrepreneur." This event was attended by students, lecturers, and the academic community of FIB USU and was held as part of an effort to strengthen cross-disciplinary entrepreneurial insight.

This public lecture aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of synergy between educational backgrounds and the creative industry sector, particularly the culinary industry, in building sustainable businesses. Through this activity, students are expected to gain a concrete understanding of the opportunities and challenges of becoming a multi-sector entrepreneur amidst the development of the creative economy and globalization.

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Study Program, who in his remarks emphasized the importance of equipping students with entrepreneurial competencies, not only theoretically but also through the practical experiences of entrepreneurs. It was also stated that the Mandarin Language Study Program plays a strategic role in preparing graduates who are adaptable and competitive in the business world, particularly in relation to international networks and cross-cultural collaboration.

During the presentation session, speakers shared their experiences and strategies in developing businesses that integrate education and the culinary arts. Various aspects were discussed, ranging from leveraging language and cultural competencies as added value, product and service innovation, to the importance of management, marketing, and the use of digital technology in managing multi-sector businesses. The material was delivered in a communicative manner and accompanied by examples of entrepreneurial practices relevant to current conditions.

The discussion and question-and-answer session were interactive, with high participant enthusiasm. Students actively asked questions related to the initial steps in establishing a business, risk management, and strategies for maintaining business sustainability amidst market competition. Through this dialogue, participants gained insight and motivation to develop their potential and dare to start a business from an early age.

The Mandarin Language Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, USU, hopes that this public lecture will serve as an inspirational platform for students to develop their entrepreneurial spirit, while strengthening the link between academic competencies and the needs of the workplace and industry. This activity is also expected to encourage the production of graduates who are not only academically superior, but also creative, innovative, and highly competitive.

Through this Public Lecture, themed "Synergy of Education and Culinary Arts: The Key to Success as a Multisector Entrepreneur," the Faculty of Humanities and Business (FIB) at USU affirms its commitment to supporting the balanced development of students' soft and hard skills, as preparation for facing the challenges of the workplace and entrepreneurship in the future.
