

FIB USU PR - On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) with the Regional Cultural Preservation Center (BPK) of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. This activity is a strategic step in strengthening institutional collaboration in the field of cultural preservation, development, and utilization, particularly related to research, education, and community service.
The MoA signing took place at the USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) and was attended by faculty leaders, representatives from the Regional Cultural Preservation Center (BPK), as well as lecturers and educational staff from the USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences. The atmosphere was solemn and full of a collaborative spirit, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving and developing the richness of Indonesian culture.
The Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) USU stated that this collaboration demonstrates the concrete role of academics in supporting government programs in the cultural sector. Through this MoA, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) is expected to actively contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage, oral traditions, manuscripts, performing arts, and various other forms of cultural heritage that constitute the nation's wealth.
Meanwhile, a representative from the Cultural Preservation Center Region II of the Ministry of Culture emphasized the importance of synergy between government institutions and universities. Universities, particularly the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra, with its scientific excellence in culture and the humanities, are considered to have a strategic role in strengthening academic studies, documentation, and disseminating cultural values to the wider community.
The scope of the collaboration outlined in this MoA includes joint research activities, culture-based curriculum development, seminars, workshops, and public lectures, as well as student involvement in internship programs and field activities related to cultural preservation. This collaboration also opens up opportunities for the development of scientific publications and community service activities focused on local and national cultural issues.
Through the signing of this MoA, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) affirms its commitment to continuously expanding its collaborative network with various stakeholders, both at the national and regional levels. It is hoped that this collaboration between the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) and the Cultural Preservation Center (Center for Cultural Preservation Region II) of the Ministry of Culture will provide tangible benefits for the development of science, cultural preservation, and strengthening the nation's cultural identity.
This activity also forms part of the FIB's efforts to realize the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which focuses on strengthening cultural values and local wisdom as the foundation for sustainable development.
