

FIB USU PR - On Thursday, October 9, 2025, students from the University of North Sumatra achieved outstanding achievements in a national competition. USU students won prizes in various categories at the 18th National Student Quran Recitation Competition (MTQMN), held from October 6-9, 2025, at Lambung Mangkurat University, South Kalimantan.
Twenty USU students were sent as delegates to the 18th National Student Quran Recitation Competition (MTQMN) in 2025. USU representatives participated in several competitions, including Tartil, Qira'at Sab'ah, Syahril, Fahmil, and Calligraphy.
Four USU students won prizes in several categories. Among them:
1. Alya Assyifa Irfani Sani (Faculty of Cultural Sciences) won second place in the Women's Tartil Qur'an category.
2. Wildan Novaili (Faculty of Engineering) won first place in the Men's Tilawatil Qur'an category.
3. Khairun Hafiyya (Faculty of Public Health) won third place in the Women's Qira'ah Sab'ah category.
4. Kiki Mayriyadhil Jannah (Faculty of Economics and Business) won first place in the 10 Juz Qur'an Hifz category.
USU Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin., S.Sos., M.Si., through Vice Chancellor I Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan S.H., M.A., who was present to motivate USU students at the competition, expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the 20 USU student delegates.
"Of course, in competitions, there are always winners and losers, but hopefully, this experience will provide valuable experience for competing and enhancing our potential in the future," he said.
Prof. Edy stated that the university leadership continues to encourage and provide ample opportunities for students to excel in national and international competitions. Before departing, the student delegation received training from coaches provided by USU.
"We fully support the students. Whatever the outcome, we strive to give our best. Thank God, in this MTQMN competition, our students won championships in several categories. This is certainly a proud achievement," he said.
The overall winners of the 2025 MTQMN XVIII, Lambung Mangkurat University, South Kalimantan, are as follows:
First Place: Islamic University of Indonesia
Second Place: Malang State University
Third Place: Lambung Mangkurat University
Fourth Place: Gadjah Mada University
Valid Place: Yogyakarta State University
VII Place: University of North Sumatra
VII Place: Syiah Kuala University
VIII Place: Brawijaya University
IX Place: Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari
Xth Place: Hasanuddin University.
