FIB USU PR - Wednesday, March 20th 2024, the Library and Information Science Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held online Technical Guidance for Librarian Competency (LSP-1). The Technical Guidance also invited librarian resource persons from Universitas Negeri Medan Donni Yudha Prawira, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. and Dedek Khadijah, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. a Librarian Certification Assessor.
Technical guidance was opened by Vice Dean II Dra. Heristina Dewi, M.Pd. Also present was the Head of the FIB USU Library and Information Science Undergraduate Study Program, Drs. Dirmansyah, M.A. and Secretary Muhammad Rasyid Ridlo, S.Hum., M.I.Kom. FIB USU Library and Information Science Undergraduate Study Program lecturer Himma Dewiyana, ST., M.Hum, head of the USU Library Laila Hadri Nasution, S.Sos., M.P. Committee Ibnu Handoyo, S.Sos and FIB Public Relations in the technical guidance.
Head of FIB USU Library and Information Science Undergraduate Study Program Drs. Dirmansyah, M.A. In his speech said that this event was provided specifically for students. The aim of this event is to provide students with information about Professional Certification in the Library Field which is held directly by the first party Professional Certification Institute (LSP-1). He hopes that students will be able to listen to the presentation from the resource person as well as discuss with the resource person so that they can get great benefits from this activity.

Vice Dean II Dra. Heristina Dewi, M.Pd. In her speech said that students must be supported in research and competence. Currently, a student must have certification, lecturers must also have certification. This activity is the right choice. Vice Dean II asked the Head of Study Program that students who have taken technical guidance should not just let go.
The first resource person, Donni Yudha Prawira, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. explains material about Librarian Competency Certification which will be a reference for students or librarians who want to become Librarian Certification. The content of the material discusses Librarian Competency Certification Infrastructure, Librarian Competency Certification Program Scheme, Application of SKKNI, SKKNI Structure, Competency Clusters and Assessment Methods.
The second resource person, Catur Dedek Khadijah, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. explained material regarding Librarian Competency Implementation Procedures (LSP). The content of the material discusses the competencies required by Librarians (LSP), Benefits of LSP-1 Certification for Students, Material that will be tested in LSP-1 Certification.
In presenting this material, students were very enthusiastic about taking part in Librarian Certification.
