FIB USU PR - On Wednesday, 13 September 2023, the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) in collaboration with The Japan Foundation Jakarta, the Japanese Consulate General in Medan and the Medan Japan Club held a Japanese Language Presentation Competition for the North Sumatra Region and Aceh 2023 with the theme "Technology and Me" by presenting 5 students from the FIB USU Japanese Literature Study Program and 1 student from the Medan Habatake Course Institute as participants.
This event began with remarks from the Chair of the Committee, Drs. Yuddi Adrian Muliadi, M.A. Followed by remarks from the Head of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, FIB USU Alimansyar, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. After that, a speech by the Dean of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. The Dean of FIB USU expressed the hope that this Japanese language presentation competition would motivate students in particular to be more enthusiastic about taking part in various Japanese competitions that would hone their Japanese language skills.
This activity was also attended by the Japanese Consul General in Medan, Mr. Takonai Susumu, Ph.D. He appreciated the enthusiasm of all the competition participants who participated as well as the spectators who came to fill the FIB USU's T. Amir Ridwan Building. Apart from giving opening remarks, the Consul General also opened this online seminar.
The judge for this Japanese presentation competition is Mr. ASANO Shunya, Japanese Junior Consul in Medan, as Chairman of the Jury. Ms. ONO Eriko from Medan Japan Club (Member), and Ms. SHIGEMURA Miyoko, The Japan Foundation, Jakarta (Member).
The participants in the Japanese presentation competition who came out as winners were:
1. Syahban Danas Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU).
2. Fauzi Hensauba Surya Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU)
3. Felicia Zanlim Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU)
The first-place winners will be representatives of the North Sumatra and Aceh regions to compete again at the national level in Jakarta in November 2023. Hopefully the representatives of the North Sumatra and Aceh regions can win at the national level later.
