FIB USU PR -  On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Undergraduate History Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Sumatra, held the 2025 Hero Session, themed "Cultural Heritage, Identity, and Inspiration." The event ran for three days, from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, November 11-13, 2025, at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Sumatera Utara (USU).

The event was also attended by Vice Dean 3, Mhd. Pujiono, SS., M.Hum., Ph.D.; Head of the Study Program, Dra. Lila Pelita Hati, M.Si.; Secretary of the History Study Program, Dra. Junita Setiana Ginting, M.Si.; lecturers from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, and students.

This event was held to commemorate Heroes' Day, as collective memory plays a crucial role in shaping historical awareness and the cultural identity of a society. Memory is not simply a collection of past events, but rather a narrative construct that revives collective experiences and shapes society's perspectives on the present and future. In the context of Indonesia's rich cultural diversity and historical experiences, memory serves as a bridge connecting ancestral heritage with national identity and a source of inspiration for future generations. Students of the History Study Program at the University of North Sumatra, as young intellectuals, have a responsibility to not only study history academically but also to revive historical narratives to ensure their relevance and grounding in society.

The 2025 Hero Session also includes competitions such as:
1) Heroes' Day Cosplay Competition for elementary school students in the Medan area.
2) Storytelling Competition for the Medan area.
3) Quiz Competition for high school students in the Medan, Binjai, and Deli Serdang areas.
4) Infographic Competition open to the public.
5) History Photography Competition open to the public.

This activity also held an exhibition in collaboration with the North Sumatra State Museum as an implementation of Hero Session 2025. The History Study Program of the University of North Sumatra established a strategic partnership with the North Sumatra State Museum as a cultural partner in presenting an authentic and educational historical dimension. This collaboration aims to strengthen the activity's function as a public learning medium (public history) that connects academic knowledge, collective memory, and the public's direct experience of history.
