FIB USU PR - on Friday, July 10, 2026 The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized a Workshop on Cross-Unit Coordination and Performance Harmonization Based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Supporting Performance Indicators (SPIs), at the T. Amin Ridwan Multipurpose Hall, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, USU. The workshop served as a strategic forum to strengthen collaboration among academic and administrative units in supporting the achievement of the Faculty's and the University's performance targets.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and was attended by the Faculty's leadership, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, the Head of Administration, Heads of Administrative Subdivisions, and educational staff. The event featured Ishbir Mujahid Adha, S.E., M.Si., Manager of Program Control, Evaluation, and Reporting at the Directorate of Planning, Development, and Program Evaluation of Universitas Sumatera Utara, as the keynote speaker.

During his presentation, the speaker emphasized that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are not merely administrative requirements but strategic performance measures designed to generate meaningful impacts on students, the workforce, society, industry, and the nation. He highlighted that every performance achievement must be supported by reliable data, proper documentation, integrated information systems, and verifiable evidence to ensure effective evaluation and informed decision-making.

The workshop also explored strategies for harmonizing the implementation of KPIs and Supporting Performance Indicators (SPIs) across the university, faculty, and study program levels. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each organizational unit in contributing to the University's strategic objectives through stronger governance, academic quality enhancement, research excellence, institutional partnerships, international publications, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiatives, and human resource development.

An interactive discussion session provided participants with the opportunity to address challenges related to performance reporting and indicator achievement. The forum encouraged the exchange of ideas on improving coordination mechanisms, strengthening data validation processes, and enhancing collaboration among units to ensure more effective and integrated implementation of institutional programs.

As a follow-up, the workshop produced several recommendations, including integrating SPI performance discussions into regular study program meetings, establishing a dedicated communication group for study program operators and faculty quality assurance staff, and implementing cross-verification of data before submission to the university level to minimize reporting errors and improve data quality.

Through this workshop, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a collaborative, accountable, and data-driven work culture in support of achieving the University's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Supporting Performance Indicators (SPIs). The strengthened synergy among all organizational units is expected to enhance institutional governance, improve program effectiveness, and contribute to realizing Universitas Sumatera Utara's vision as a globally competitive university.
