

Edward Bangun (Class of 1994) was officially elected as the Chair of the Ethnomusicology Alumni Association (IKA) of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU) for the upcoming term through the General Assembly (Musyawarah Besar/Mubes), which was held both offline and online. The event served as a gathering platform and strengthened alumni solidarity in supporting the development of the Ethnomusicology Study Program and FIB USU.
FIB USU PR - On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Ethnomusicology Alumni Association of FIB USU held its General Assembly (Mubes), attended by approximately 50 participants through both offline and online sessions. The event functioned as a forum for alumni gathering and deliberation to determine the new leadership of the Ethnomusicology Alumni Association for the next period.
In the chairperson election process, two candidates were nominated: Edward Bangun from the Class of 1994 and Erik Sitorus from the Class of 2011. Based on the results of the democratic voting process, Edward Bangun received the highest number of votes with a margin of 10 votes and was officially elected as the next Chair of the Ethnomusicology Alumni Association.
The General Assembly was conducted in an orderly manner, characterized by a strong sense of kinship and togetherness among alumni. Through the new leadership, the Ethnomusicology Alumni Association is expected to further strengthen alumni relations and provide positive contributions to the development of the Ethnomusicology Study Program and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
