Culture continues to thrive when younger generations are willing to learn from it, discuss it, and carry it into the future. Driven by this spirit, the Batak Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, proudly hosted Sarasehan Nusantara VIII IMBASADI, held in Medan from June 3–6, 2021. Under the theme "The Tragedy of Local Culture from a Forensic Perspective: Past and Present," the event brought together students of regional languages and literature from universities across Indonesia to exchange ideas, strengthen collaboration, and explore new perspectives on preserving the nation's rich cultural heritage.

Throughout the four-day program, participants engaged in a variety of academic and cultural activities, including a National Seminar, Cultural Performances, Sharing Sessions, and a City Tour showcasing Medan's cultural heritage. The event also featured a wide range of competitions, such as the National Scientific Writing Competition, Nusantara Dance Competition, Drama Festival, Scientific Poster Competition, Poetry Musicalization, Nusantara Souvenir Competition, IMBASADI Cultural Ambassador Selection 2021, and the TikTok Challenge Festival. These activities demonstrated that cultural preservation can be both meaningful and creative, embracing modern platforms while honoring traditional values.

Through Sarasehan Nusantara VIII IMBASADI, the Batak Literature Study Program reaffirmed its commitment to fostering academic collaboration and strengthening appreciation for Indonesia's regional languages, literature, and cultural diversity. More than just a forum for discussion, the event served as a platform for inspiring young people to become active contributors to cultural preservation. It highlighted that tradition remains relevant when it is supported by collaboration, innovation, and fresh ideas—ensuring that Indonesia's cultural heritage continues to inspire future generations on both national and global stages.
