Jekmen Sinulingga, M.Hum., lecturer of the Batak Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has been invited as a panel speaker at The 7th Geotourism Festival & International Conference (GEOFEST 2026), held in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The international conference brings together experts, researchers, and indigenous community representatives to discuss the role of cultural heritage and sustainable geotourism in shaping a better future.
Carrying the theme "Tracing Toba Ash Diaspora & Empowering Indigenous Community," GEOFEST 2026 is jointly organized by Lenggong UNESCO Global Geopark and the Indonesia Geopark Network, with strategic collaboration involving Raja Ampat UNESCO Global Geopark and Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark. The event serves as an international platform to strengthen partnerships, promote geoheritage conservation, encourage educational exchange, and advance sustainable development through the values of indigenous cultures.
