The follow-up plan for the alumni gathering in 2023 is that the collaboration between the campus and alumni of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, FIB USU will be improved by involving alumni in providing material at guest lectures, holding alumni gatherings regularly to improve friendship, urging alumni of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, FIB USU in filling out the QS Survey.
FIB USU PR - On Saturday, January 13, 2024 the Japanese Literature Study Program of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an Alumni Gathering which was held at the Grandhika Hotel Medan. The event was attended by the Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., Chairperson of the Japanese Literature Study Program, Chairperson of the Japanese Literature Alumni of FIB USU, Alumni of Japanese Literature FIB USU and all lecturers and students of Japanese Literature.
This meeting aims to build more robust communication and relationships between study programs and alumni who have made significant contributions to various fields of activity both in the government and private sectors.
The existence of alumni of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in various agencies reflects the character and tangible evidence of the success and excellence of the education that alumni have received from USU. USU alumni are valuable assets that can improve an institution's reputation.
The reputation of alumni as professionals in various fields of work is an important value in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking. USU's ranking in the QS Ranking is strongly influenced by the "Employer Reputation" indicator. The better the reputation of USU alumni in the eyes of employers, the better the university's ranking on a global scale.
Employer reputation reflects companies' and employers' views on the quality of university graduates. This reputation includes the extent to which university graduates are considered competent, ready to work, and contribute to the work environment.
Employer reputation has a weight of 15% in the QS assessment indicators, which in the 2023 ranking only reached 6.2%. In the 2024 ranking, USU targets an employer reputation indicator value of 12%. When referring to the current USU ranking, based on world rankings, namely Time Higher Education (THE) and QS, USU is ranked 1201. Based on THE's ranking of universities in Asia in 2023, USU is ranked 18th, and QS Asia is ranked 14th.
Employer Reputation Tracker 2024 shows that USU is ranked 16th nationally out of 26 existing rankings. Globally, USU is ranked 967 out of 1519 available rankings. USU strives to improve the QS ranking of universities in the world. Therefore, the Japanese Literature Study Program of FIB USU as part of USU will conduct Alumni Gathering activities as an effort to strengthen communication links with alumni networks to be able to participate in increasing USU's ranking in the world.
The output of this Alumni Gathering is the socialization of the Employer Reputation Program delivered by the Deputy Dean III of FIB USU, the establishment of a relationship between the Japanese Literature Study Program FIB USU and alumni, the formation of an alumni community of the Japanese Literature Study Program FIB USU through a WhatsApp Group, Collected data on alumni of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Arts USU with middle to top manager positions in various fields of work domiciled in the city of Medan and its surroundings, and Established an agreement between the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Arts USU and the Alumni Association of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program to mutually support the work programs of the Study Program and the Alumni Association.
The follow-up plan for the alumni gathering in 2023 is that the collaboration between the campus and alumni of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Arts USU will be increased by involving alumni in providing material at guest lectures, holding regular alumni gatherings to improve friendship, urging alumni of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Arts USU in filling out the QS Survey.
