Graduates or alumni from the Indonesian Literature Study Program have been involved in various fields of work such as researchers at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), banking, culture, government, education, language development, TNI, police, state administrators (KPU/KPI), journalists/media, entrepreneurs, editors, literacy activists, creative industries and so on.

FIB USU PR - On Thursday, January 11, 2024, the Indonesian Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held an Alumni Gathering at Cafe Roemah Kayu. The activity in the Alumni Gathering is Focus Group Discussion (FGD).

FIB USU Dean Prof. Dr. T Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., who was present with Vice Dean I Prof. Mauly Purba, Ph.D., said that the alumni gathering activity was intended to strengthen the Indonesian Literature Study Program which is currently trying to achieve international accreditation. This activity is also a derivative of USU Rector Prof. Muryanto Amin's work program, especially in internationalizing USU.

The Dean of FIB USU said that the role of alumni is very important in strengthening their reputation in the industrial world. Alumni who have become professionals in their respective fields certainly have diverse experiences that can be input for universities to further improve the quality of their curriculum and graduates.

The Dean of FIB USU also explained that the EQUITY Program is an important step to improve USU's quality, so that it can reach 500 World Class University rankings. By focusing on developing high-quality human resources, developing relevant research, and innovation in learning approaches.

Chair of the FIB USU's Indonesian Literature Study Program, Dr. Dwi Widayati, M.Hum., accompanied by the Secretary of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Dra. Nurhayati Harahap, M.Hum., explained that the Indonesian Literature Study Program Alumni Gathering activity was intended as a medium for exchanging ideas and receiving input from invited alumni regarding the development of the Indonesian Literature Study Program.

The main agenda for this activity is a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with themes including: sharing professional career experiences, application of knowledge or theories obtained during college and what knowledge can be applied or taught in the Indonesian Literature Study Program so that graduates -Graduates of the Indonesian Literature Study Program can be quickly absorbed into the industrial world.
