FIB USU PR - On November 29, 2023, the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held an International Seminar with the theme "Contemporary Research on Japanese Language, Literature, and Culture" which invited speakers from various countries. This seminar is the second international seminar held by the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program. This seminar took place in a hybrid manner at the Prof. T. Amin Ridwan and via Zoom Meeting which was attended by lecturers, students and participants who were interested in seminars on the theme of Japanese language, literature and culture.
This event began with remarks from the Head of the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program, Alimansyar, S.S., M.A Ph. D., then General Director of The Japan Foundation Jakarta, Yuichi Takahashi, expressed his joy at the implementation of the Japanese seminar by USU's FIB Japanese Literature Study Program and stated that he was ready to provide support for Japanese activities in Indonesia. Next, the Dean of USU FIB, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. opened this international seminar. In her speech, the Dean of FIB USU expressed her admiration in the Japanese Literature Undergraduate Study Program which consistently holds seminar activities every year. This seminar can open the insight of lecturers, students and seminar participants and improve the KPI of FIB and USU as World Class University.
Speakers at this International Seminar include, Dr. Hồ Tố Liên from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (Vietnam), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zoraida Mustafa from University Sains Islam Malaysia, Fithyani Anwar, S.S., M.A., Ph. D from Hasanuddin University, Dr. Chen Ichen from Nihon University (Japan), Adriana Hasibuan, S.S., M. Hum and Rani Arfianty, S.S., M.Phil from USU.
This seminar was divided into 2 sessions, namely the first session containing the main speakers and the second session where speakers from various universities in Indonesia presented the results of their research. Hopefully this seminar will continue to be held every year and increase insight into Japanese language, literature and culture.
