INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN 7th UKM ASEAN ART FESTIVAL (PERFORMANCES GROUP) 6th NOVEMBER - 10th NOVEMBER 2024 AT THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF MALAYSIA (UKM)

We are pleased to inform you that the University Cultural Centre and Ibu Zain Residential College, The National University of Malaysia, will be organizing the 7th UKM ASEAN Art Festival from 6th November to 10th November 2024 at UKM.

The festival comprises the following activities: (1) Art and culture workshops, (2) Cultural Performances - home country, (3) Community Engagement, (4) Cultural Trip and (5) Discussion on cultural issues. The festival is deliberately planned to capture the essence of cultural heritage, particularly its influences and development, to promote better understanding and appreciation of World Heritage Culture. The Festival, therefore, provides a rare opportunity for our youth, especially those interested in arts and culture, to gain knowledge and experiences that will complement and be useful to their studies and personal interests.

To achieve the festival objectives, we kindly request each country involved in Group A to nominate one group consisting of 6-8 dancers, singers, or musicians to join the festival. Each participating group is requested to prepare a 7-10 minute performance based on their own culture. Participants shall bear their airfare expenses and are requested to cover the cost of accommodation, local transportation, and meals amounting to USD 50 per participant, which is to be paid upon registration. Participants are also requested to bring their own traditional costumes. This year, the organizers plan to introduce awards for the best performances with categories of Gold, Silver and Bronze for the participating countries. Several judges from ASEAN countries and a permanent jury will evaluate all the performances from the participating ASEAN countries.

Delegates are expected to arrive at The National University of Malaysia on 6th November 2024 (before 4 pm) and depart to their respective home countries on 11th November 2024. To participate, please submit the completed registration form (Section A) to the office of the Secretariat through Mr. Mohamad Iskandar Zulkipli at iszie@ukm.edu.my by 18th October 2024. The flight details, the synopsis and performance equipment (Section B and Section C) should be sent by 25th October 2024.
