On May 22, 2024, the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), held the “Designing Japanese Language Teaching with Irodori” Workshop. The activity was held at the T. A. Ridwan Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, from 08.30 to 12.00 WIB.
The workshop focused on designing Japanese language teaching using Irodori. The activity served as a platform for introducing and developing knowledge about Japanese language teaching through Irodori materials.
The workshop featured three speakers from The Japan Foundation, Jakarta, namely Shinohara Aki as a Japanese Language Expert, Shigemura Miyoko as a Japanese Language Expert, and Rezki Fajriannoor as a Japanese Language Instructor. The presence of the speakers provided participants with an opportunity to gain knowledge about Japanese language teaching with Irodori directly from experts and instructors from The Japan Foundation Jakarta.
The “Designing Japanese Language Teaching with Irodori” Workshop was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., and the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Alimansyar, S.S., M.A., Ph.D.
In this activity, the involvement of The Japan Foundation Jakarta became an important part of the development of Japanese language teaching, particularly through the introduction of Irodori. The collaboration also served as a space to strengthen academic relations between the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature of FIB USU and The Japan Foundation Jakarta.
This workshop was one form of academic activity of the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature of FIB USU in supporting the development of the quality of Japanese language teaching. Through this activity, participants were expected to gain insights into designing Japanese language teaching using Irodori as well as develop knowledge and skills in the field of Japanese language teaching.
