

FIB USU PR - On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities, University of North Sumatra, held a welcoming ceremony for new graduate students for the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at the T. Amin Ridwan Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. (Dean of Faculty of Cultural Sciences), Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D. (Vice Dean I), Dra. Heristina Dewi, M.Pd. (Vice Dean II), Heads of Study Programs and Secretaries, lecturers, and graduate students.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., (Dean of Faculty of Cultural Sciences), welcomed all new graduate students from four master's programs and one doctoral program. The presence of these students demonstrates their enthusiasm for continuing their education, deepening their knowledge, and fostering a quality academic culture. The Faculty of Humanities, University of North Sumatra (USU), is proud to be a part of their academic journey.
The postgraduate program is not only an institution for continuing higher studies, but also a platform for self-development, research, and real contributions to the institution and society. Therefore, I encourage you all to undertake the learning process with sincerity, discipline, and integrity, so that the knowledge gained will not only benefit you personally, but also the faculty, university, nation, and state," said the Dean.
The Impactful Diktisaintek Program is a strategy to realize the vision of addressing educational challenges, such as strengthening the capacity of student organizations, implementing impactful internship programs, collaborative programs with the business world, industry, and other programs.
USU is currently on the path to internationalization. In his presentation at the open session of USU's 73rd Anniversary, Chancellor, Prof. Muryanto Amin, stated that under his leadership, USU now has 28 study programs with international accreditation status and 81 study programs with UNGGUL (Excellent) accreditation. This achievement demonstrates USU's national recognition and its adherence to global standards. FIB has received three master's study programs with Excellent accreditation status, one UNGGUL master's study program, and one doctoral study program with Excellent accreditation status, said the Dean.
Collaborative research between students and lecturers aims to increase scientific publications and citations, thereby enhancing USU's reputation nationally and internationally. Master's students are not only students but also practitioners, sharing their experiences with undergraduate students, both in teaching and contributing to research and community service.
The Chancellor invites all parties to grow together in forming collaborations that benefit all.
