FIB USU PR - On Friday 26 July 2024, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) received a visit from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (FSSK -UKM), Malaysia. During this visit, FSSK UKM Malaysia and FIB USU held an International Cooperation Discussion. Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein M.A said that UKM students are undergoing industrial internships at 5 FIB partner institutions such as Tjong a fie mansion, Al-Qur'an history museum, DAAI TV, USU Library, North Sumatra Provincial Language Center. This visit will certainly discuss What cooperation between the two faculties will be planned in the future that we have done are some activities that may have been conveyed by the dean of FSSK.

The Faculty of Cultural Sciences was formerly known as the Faculty of Letters which was established on August 25, 1965, and this year FIB has entered its 59th year. The Dean of FIB also said that he would dedicate for the development of language, literature, arts and culture. FIB focuses on the development of humanities because the library study program is included in it and cannot be separated from cultural objects such as oral traditions, customs, technological knowledge, art, language, folk games and traditional music.

Dean of FSSK UKM Prof. Dr. Kadaruddin Aiyub expressed his gratitude to FIB for welcoming the arrival of FSSK UKM, where UKM students had also arrived at FIB first. The relationship between FSSK UKM and FIB USU has been going on for a long time, and many lecturers have come from UKM to FIB and will be promoted to a higher level.
Since 2 years ago, UKM and FIB will be able to develop knowledge, improve and provide a better experience to UKM and FIB students, especially at FSSK UKM. In this meeting, UKM and FIB will sign the Cooperation Agreement. In this initial meeting, UKM and FIB will conduct an Internship.
The Dean of FSSK UKM also wants to see study programs so that they can send their students for Credit Transfer for one semester and will switch from internship to Mobility Credit Transfer. UKM is also willing to accept FIB USU students to UKM.
FSSK UKM has 12 study programs that are broad in nature, different from FIB USU which is already core and specific.
