FIB USU PR -  On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences received a visit from the Chancellor of the University of North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Sc., to conduct an evaluation of the work taking place at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. This visit discussed strategies for strengthening research and encouraging academic innovation in order to face the dynamics of change in higher education.

 

 

 

 

The USU Chancellor said that the world of higher education is currently experiencing a policy transition and emphasized the importance of faculty readiness in facing the upcoming changes.

 

 

"We are currently experiencing a kind of transition. In the midst of the transition process which is still using the old references, but there is a discourse to change it, we need to prepare, later if it changes or a new policy is decided," said the Chancellor

 

 

The Chancellor revealed things that must be considered in the new policy, such as the autonomy of study programs in determining the curriculum and learning innovations that are in accordance with industry needs, and lecturer research must produce innovative products that can be applied in community service.

 

 

"The policy from the Minister that we discussed with him, the autonomy of study programs to determine the curriculum, can create new learning innovations needed by the industry. Regarding research, funds are not cut, but diverted, focused," said the Chancellor

 

 

 

 

 

 The Dean of FIB USU, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. stated that this visit opened the lecturers' insights, emphasized the importance of research in addition to teaching, and helped evaluate. In addition, the Dean explained, FIB has established a performance contract with the Heads of Study Programs and will conduct routine evaluations to ensure target achievement.

 

 

"This visit opens the lecturers' insights as well as evaluation. Currently, we have determined the schedule for signing the performance contract between the Head of Study Programs and the Dean. We will focus on planning and recording all the programs that have been planned," said the Dean

 

 

In terms of academic achievements, FIB USU has recorded several significant achievements, such as the IKU 7 FIB USU which has reached 94% and student participation in MBKM reaching 360 participants. FIB USU also has the most international classes.
