USU and IIEF hold introduction of English Access Scholarship Program 2024-2026 in FIB Environment

FIB USU PR - Friday, November 1, 2024 USU held an English Access Scholarship Program Activity attended by the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF) and the United States Embassy, Dean of FIB USU at the Multipurpose Building Prof. H.T. Amin Ridwan, Ph.D. Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra.
Director of International Relations and Global Partnerships USU Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita ST., MT. gave a welcoming speech by thanking the Director of the Regional English Language Office (RELO) and the Director of IIEF, and congratulated the participants who successfully passed the English Access Scholarship Program.
"I would also like to congratulate the participants who successfully passed the English Access Scholarship Program," said Prof. Himsar.
Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita ST., MT., also explained that this program not only has an impact on improving USU's reputation, but also on internationalization, namely preparing students as campus ambassadors who are ready to participate in various student exchange programs abroad. In addition, students who participate in this program will be directed to accompany foreign guests at USU and be involved in other international activities.
"We will consider the students as seeds for us to make ambassadors to participate in student exchanges," said Prof. Himsar.
Ruth Goode, Director of RELO at the United States Embassy, said that the English Access Scholarship Program is the first step for students towards their dreams. She hopes that students can make optimal use of this program to achieve their dreams and contribute to the progress of Indonesia.
"We hope that you will have an extraordinary journey and later contribute to this great nation of Indonesia," said Ruth.
Christie Mordhost, representative of the United States Consulate in Medan, expressed her appreciation for the perseverance and resilience of the students who have made it to this point and believes that the skills they have gained through this program will be the foundation for future success. She also emphasized the importance of English as a global language that opens up opportunities, brings peace, and builds collaboration.
"I believe that English is a language that brings many opportunities, as well as peace and collaboration," said Christie.
The participants who will take part in this program consist of 20 high school students and 20 first-semester students majoring in English and English Education from 6 high schools and 4 universities in Medan City, such as SMAN 17 Medan, SMA Muhammadiyah 02 Medan, USU, and UNIMED.
