On January 10, 2026, Hana Nazihah Siregar, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), successfully won 2nd Place in the 10th Japanese Speech Essay Competition organized by Komaru Transportation Foundation, Fukuyama City University, and Universitas Darma Persada. The national-scale competition was held at Grha Wira Bakti, Universitas Darma Persada, Jakarta, with the theme “Transportation.”

The 10th Japanese Speech Essay Competition was intended for students studying Japanese in Indonesia. The activity served as a platform for students to hone their Japanese language and public speaking skills as well as convey ideas and thoughts on the theme “Transportation.” In addition, the activity aimed to increase awareness of traffic safety and educate human resources who can serve as a bridge between Indonesia and Japan in the future.

Komaru Transportation Foundation, Fukuyama City University, and Universitas Darma Persada also collaborated in organizing the activity. On April 29, 2024, the three institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of industry, education, and international relations. Fukuyama City University has also been involved as an organizer since the 9th Japanese Speech Essay Competition.

Hana Nazihah Siregar's achievement as the 2nd Place winner was one of the achievements of students of the Undergraduate Program in Japanese Literature of FIB USU in a national-scale Japanese language competition. Her participation in the activity also provided experience in developing Japanese language skills and conveying ideas in public.

Participation in the activity served as motivation for students to continue improving their Japanese language skills and participating in various academic activities. The activity also served as a platform for expanding experience and supporting the dissemination of Japanese language learning and relations between Indonesia and Japan.
