

FIB USU PR - On Thursday, November 20, 2025, the English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra, held the IMSI 44th Anniversary event with the theme "Realm of the Word Wrangle: Where the Words Run Unbidden, the Meanings Stand Unyield." This theme reflects the space for freedom of expression and the persistence of meaning that are IMSI's identity, while also reviving the spirit of kinship, intellectual dynamics, and the legacy of IMSI's long journey that continues to live on from generation to generation. Furthermore, this theme embodies the hope of creating a meaningful atmosphere that connects generations of students, lecturers, and alumni through various inspiring and meaningful activities.
IMSI's Anniversary was organized by the English Literature Student Association (IMSI), Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of North Sumatra. This event aimed to commemorate IMSI's 44th anniversary and serve as a momentum to strengthen family ties among students, lecturers, alumni, and the entire English Literature family. This celebration not only reflects the organization's long journey but also serves as a platform for fostering togetherness and celebrating IMSI's numerous achievements.
The event involved all levels of society, including faculty, staff, alumni, students, and the general public. IMSI held its anniversary celebration with various competitions across academic and non-academic categories, culminating in a night of awarding winners and a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the anniversary.
Activities began several months before the grand finale, with various competitions held both online and offline. Online competitions included Comic Strip Competition, Storytelling, Speech Competition, Poster Design Competition, Poetry Recitation Competition, and offline competitions such as Vocal Solo Competition, Mobile Legends Competition, 3x3 Basketball (Men's), and Futsal Competition.
The culminating event, the Celebration Party, was held on November 20, 2025, marked by the cutting of the tumpeng rice cake, symbolizing IMSI's 44th anniversary. The event also announced the winners of each competition. The atmosphere was even more lively with a bazaar, entertainment from local bands, and various other interesting performances involving the entire English Literature family.
