August 19, 2023, marked the second day of the New Student Campus Life Orientation (PKKMB) event. The second-day activities occurred at the Pancasila Building of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). At 06:00 AM, all new Faculty of Cultural Science (FIB) USU students gathered at the venue. Before the core activities of PKKMB began, FIB USU students showcased their talents through modern dance performances and singing by students from the English Literature Study Program.

 

 

The PKKMB session commenced with a presentation on Higher Education in the Era of the Industrial Revolution by Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si.     She explained the role of universities in the 4.0 industrial revolution and campus life. 

 

 

Following her presentation, she conducted a quiz using the Quizizz platform, and she awarded prizes to five students with the highest scores.

 

 

 

Next, Nana Dyki Dirbawanto, S.E., MBA. delivered a presentation on Core Values in the Digital Era, emphasizing the importance of using social media wisely while upholding cultural values, ethics, and etiquette.

 

 

This was followed by a PKM Center Socialization session by Emma Marsella S.S., M.Si. and an Introduction to the USU Library by Laila Hadri Nst, S.Sos., M.P.

 

 

 

At 1:00 PM, after lunch and prayer break (ISOMA), before resuming the PKKMB core activities, students from the Indonesian Literature, Arabic Literature, Ethnomusicology, and Japanese Literature study programs showcased their talents.

 

 

 

The event continued with an Introduction to the Study Programs and Student Associations at FIB USU. The faculty houses 10 study programs: English Literature, Arabic Literature, Batak Literature, Indonesian Literature, Japanese Literature, Malay Literature, Mandarin Language, Ethnomusicology, Historical Science, and Library and Information Science. The Heads, Secretaries, and several lecturers from each study program attended this session. Notably, the Dean of FIB USU herself participated in introducing the English Literature Study Program, as she is an active lecturer and advisor there.

 

 

 

 

The next activity was the Alumni Gathering Session by the FIB USU Alumni Association (IKA FIB USU), which was attended by Apriadi Gunawan, S.S., the Chairman of IKA FIB USU.
 

 

 

Panut Hadisiswoyo, S.S., M.A., M.Sc., served as the Secretary of IKA FIB USU and is also the Founder of the Orangutan Information Center.

 

 

Drs. Harus Al Rasyid served as the Head of the Regional Daily Council Secretariat of the 45 Struggle Empowerment Agency of North Sumatra and also as the Vice Chairman of the Cultural Preservation of North Sumatra Province.

 

 

The second day's activities were concluded by the Chairman of PKKMB FIB USU 2023, Mr. Muhammad Azis Rizky Lubis, S.S., M.A. Afterward, senior students from each Student Association of the Study Programs instructed the new students to go to their respective homes.
