FIB USU PR - On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the Doctoral Study Program (S3) in Linguistics, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) held a Qualitative Data Analysis Workshop with NVivo using the Zoom Meeting application. This workshop activity is not limited to lecturers and students within FIB USU's environment, but there are also those from outside USU. The number of participants taking part in the workshop was 100 people consisting of participants from various institutions such as Universitas Negeri Makassar, Universitas Siliwangi, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesian, and so on.
The aim of this workshop is to increase lecturers' and students' knowledge about data analysis using NVivo and increase students' and lecturers' self-confidence and skills in analyzing research data.
In the academic world, writing is the main thing as a benchmark for the quality of academics. Even publishing articles in reputable international journals is an obligation for a doctoral student to complete their studies. The best writing is writing that meets the requirements for publication in accredited National Journals and Reputable International Journals. For this reason, academics and writers are required to know and master reference sources and manage these reference sources well with Nvivo soft.
Undang-Undang (Law) No. 14 year 2005 Lecturers are professional educators and scientists with the main task of transforming, developing and disseminating science, technology and art through education, research and community service. Therefore, lecturers are obliged to implement and support the tridharma activities of higher education. In achieving this, lecturers need to make efforts to always develop themselves both independently and institutionally. Lecturers can develop themselves independently by never stopping learning. Lecturers must always try to upgrade their knowledge, one of which is as a provision for developing students' learning processes and for their research needs.
Research is one part of the Tridharma of Higher Education and is mandatory for all lecturers. Based on this, the FIB USU Doctoral Study Program in Linguistics will organize data analysis training activities using NVivo software. This activity lasts for 1 day, starting on August 16, 2023.
It is hoped that this training activity can increase the knowledge of researchers to apply NVivo software in lecturers' qualitative research. In this training, participants are provided with ways to manage and analyze qualitative research data, mix methods and R&D (research and development) using NVivo software.
By attending NVivo training, it is hoped that lecturers will be able to enrich their insight and be able to master various qualitative research data analysis methods which can then be transferred to students and also applied in the analysis of research data carried out.
