FIB USU PR -  On Friday, August 22, 2025, the USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences Community Service (PKM) conducted field activities in the Sibolangit tourism village, Sibolangit District, Deliserdang Regency, in the Sibolangit Village Hall.

The Community Service activities were funded by the 2025 Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) Fund of the USU Community Service Institute (LPPM). The team in attendance included Dra. Heristina Dewi, M.Pd., (Vice Dean II of USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences), Prof. Dr. Drs. Budi Agustono, M.S., (Professor of History of USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences), Hubari Gulo, S.Sn., M.Sn., Ahmad Arief Tarigan (Lecturer at USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences), Milham (USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences Education Staff), Mahaga Perangin-angin (USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences Education Staff), and all Sibolangit village government officials.

This activity, which is a manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, follows up on the digital content production and tourism promotion program that began last July.

"This community service activity has been underway since July. Today, we are conducting field training for village officials," explained Dra. Heristina Dewi, MPd, Head of the USU FIB PKM Team, in a statement received on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

She added that in addition to the training, the team will also hand over the prepared website to the Sibolangit village government.

"We have also prepared a website to hand over to the village government. We hope this site can be well-managed so that digital content production and tourism destination promotion in Sibolangit village can reach a wider audience," Heristina explained.

Prof. Budi Agustono (USU Professor) explained during his presentation that, in addition to its natural beauty and freshness, Sibolangit village has historical tourism potential that can be developed.

"Besides the beautiful and fresh nature, this village has potential for historical tourism. There's a PDAM water source that has supplied Medan's needs since the colonial era. There's also a historical site from the Dutch evangelism expedition to Karo. This potential can also be developed into a religious tourism destination," said Prof. Budi Agustono.

Prof. Budi also emphasized that all of this tourism potential must be managed professionally. On-site management efforts will be supported by digital strategies for promotion, including public education.

Responding to this community service activity, Sibolangit Village Head Samiranta Ketaren expressed his gratitude and pride for the support from the university.

"We are grateful and proud of the support from the university. We hope this collaboration will continue. Sibolangit Tourism Village is ready to collaborate and welcome domestic and international tourists," concluded Samiranta Ketaren, accompanied by all village government officials.
