Reaffirming the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB)' commitment to fostering students who are excellent, creative, culturally aware, and globally competitive.


On Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19–20, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully organized the Sports and Arts Week (PERSONI) FIB USU 2026 under the theme “The Synergy of Letters, Rhythm, and Physical Strength.” The event served as a platform for developing creativity, sportsmanship, intellectual growth, and a stronger sense of unity among members of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences academic community.

The series of activities commenced on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with an official opening ceremony held at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB). The event was inaugurated by Dr. Zulfan, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations of FIB USU. In his remarks, he stated that PERSONI serves as an important medium for nurturing students’ potential not only in academics but also in sports, arts, leadership, and teamwork.

He further emphasized that student activities such as PERSONI play a strategic role in shaping students into creative, innovative, and competitive individuals who uphold the values of sportsmanship, collaboration, and solidarity.

The opening ceremony continued with remarks from Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., CIT, Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure. She expressed her appreciation to all committee members and participants who contributed to the success of the event. She also hoped that PERSONI would strengthen relationships among students from different study programs and foster a harmonious and productive academic environment.

The opening activities were accompanied by Edy Siswanto, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the Student Affairs and Alumni Subdivision of FIB USU, and attended by lecturers, administrative staff, invited guests, and students from various study programs within the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB).

One of the main events of PERSONI 2026 was the Cultural and Education Symposium: “Weaving Identity in the Transformation of Modern Education.” The symposium provided an academic forum that brought together various stakeholders to discuss the importance of strengthening cultural identity in addressing the challenges of modern education, globalization, and rapid technological advancement.

Through the symposium, participants gained valuable insights into the importance of preserving cultural values as a foundation for shaping the character of younger generations while integrating these values with innovation and contemporary developments. The event also served as a platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas among academics, students, alumni, and stakeholders concerned with cultural and educational issues.

In addition to the symposium, PERSONI FIB USU 2026 featured a variety of sports and arts competitions enthusiastically participated in by students. These competitions not only provided opportunities for healthy competition but also fostered friendship, solidarity, and the development of students’ talents and interests.

After two days of vibrant activities and active participation, the PERSONI FIB USU 2026 series was officially closed on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, by Andi Pratama Lubis, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization of FIB USU.

In his closing remarks, he expressed appreciation to all committee members, participants, faculty advisors, and everyone who contributed to the success of PERSONI 2026. He encouraged participants to continue fostering the spirit of togetherness, sportsmanship, creativity, and collaboration that had been built throughout the event in both academic and student organizational activities.

The closing ceremony was followed by the announcement of winners and the presentation of awards to participants who excelled in various sports and arts competitions. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and appreciation as awards were presented in recognition of the participants’ hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit.

Through the successful implementation of PERSONI FIB USU 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatera Utara, once again reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of students who are academically excellent, creative, culturally grounded, and capable of making positive contributions to society. The theme “The Synergy of Letters, Rhythm, and Physical Strength” reflects the harmonious integration of intellectual excellence, appreciation of arts and culture, and physical well-being as essential foundations for shaping a high-quality future generation.
