FIB USU PR - Monday, June 10th 2024, the Chinese Language Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) carried out the Art Exhibition USU MKWU (Compulsory University Courses) Collaboration Chinese Musical Arts and Crafts, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Mandarin Script. This activity was attended by Vice Dean III Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., Chair of the Chinese Language Study Program Niza Ayuningtias, S.S., MTCSOL., Chair of the committee Vivi Adryani Nasution, S.S., MTCSOL., Course Lecturer Jessy, S.S., MTCSOL., and Parties of Indocafe Budi Darmawan and Henywaty.
MKWU Chinese Painting and Calligraphy is a course that teaches how and what paintings based on Chinese art look like and how to make Hànzì (汉字), which is the writing or national language of the Chinese people, into a work of art that has meaning and beauty when looked at. This art exhibition activity was carried out with the aim of displaying the artistic work of students from the Compulsory Courses at the University of Chinese Music and Crafts, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy and Chinese Characters in one semester. The works displayed in this art exhibition include lanterns made from red packets, the art of Chinese paper cutting, the art of making knots from satin thread, the art of embroidering and painting Chinese fans, the art of Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, and making Chinese hair sticks for one semester.
Chair of the committee, Vivi Adryani Nasution, S.S., MTCSOL, in presenting her activity report, said that the Chinese Undergraduate Study Program was very grateful because it was still able to carry out Art Exhibition activities with the theme "The Beauty of Art". This is the second activity starting in 2023. The Chinese Music Arts and Crafts Chinese Painting and Calligraphy and Mandarin Script courses are courses in the Chinese language study program which also participate in the University's mandatory courses. This course is offered at MKWU based on PPA. Aims to provide knowledge and understanding to students across study programs and faculties about Chinese arts and culture who are expected to be able to understand the values of Chinese arts and culture and be able to understand the form of products that have creative value.

"As chairman of the committee, we hope that the Art Exhibition event can run smoothly and successfully and can also be an inspiration and motivation for all students to continue working and developing talents in the field of arts and culture," Vivi continued.

Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D. In his speech he said, the Chinese Language study program is on its way to International Accreditation, this activity is one proof of the activities to achieve that. "This activity must be disseminated on various social media so that it can become a selling point. Exhibitions or Art Exhibitions from USU's Chinese Language study program courses can attract interested people who want to enter USU," said Mhd. Pujiono.
