The Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara hoped that the holding of this seminar could be a medium for academics and experts to talk and discuss learning and research in the field of Malay Language, Literature and Culture so that it could raise Malay cultural values without letting go of the current development.

FIB USU PR - Tuesday, March 14, 2023, the Malay Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) has held a Learning and Research Seminar in the Field of Malay Language, Literature and Culture in ASEAN Cognate with the theme "Knitting the Beauty of the Charm of Malay Identity through Language, Literature and Culture". This event was held at the USU Student Center and also invited the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). In this seminar there were four main speakers, namely, Prof. M. Husnan Lubis, M.A., Ph.D (USU), Prof. Dr. Rahim Bin Aman (UKM), Prof. Madya, Dr. Mawar Binti Safei (UKM) and Prof. Dr. dr. Umar Zein, DTM&H. Sp.PD.

This event was opened directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Dr. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A, in his remarks the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara hoped that the holding of this seminar could be a medium for academics and experts to talk and discuss learning and research in the field of Malay Language, Literature and Culture so that it could raise Malay cultural values without letting go of the current development. In line with this, the Head of the Malay Literature Study Program and the Chief Executive of this Seminar Activity Dra. Mardiah Mawar Kembaren, M.A., Ph.D, also hopes that this event can continue in order to maintain the identity of Malay culture in the midst of today's modernity.

The first speaker in this seminar was Prof. M. Husnan Lubis, M.A., Ph.D, followed by the second speaker, Prof. Dr. Rahim Bin Aman, with Moderator Dedy Rahmad Sitinjak, S.S., M.Si. Furthermore, it was filled with entertainment events in the form of the performance of a song from students of the Malay Literature Study Program. The next material presentation session was led by the Moderator, namely Raka Gunaika, M.A with speakers Prof. Dr. dr. Umar Zein, DTM&H. Sp.PD. and Prof. Madya, Dr. Mawar Binti Safei. The seminar was closed with a group photo session and souvenir giving between representatives of the Malay Literature Study Program and representatives of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities UKM.

After the seminar was over, the USU Malay Literature Study Program and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities UKM continued the event by holding a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which was held in the Video Conference Room of the USU Rector's Bureau Building by discussing the continued program of cooperation between the USU Malay Literature Study Program and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in the form of joint teaching, student exchanges, and joint research.
