On May 10, 2024, the Japanese Language Study Program of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, participated as a partner of the U.S. Consulate in Medan and the Consulate General of Japan in Medan in the celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month through the screening of the film Finding Her Beat.

This activity was carried out through a partnership between the Japanese Language Study Program of FIB USU, the U.S. Consulate in Medan, and the Consulate General of Japan in Medan. The activity served as a form of cultural exchange that brought together various parties through film and cultural activities.

In the implementation of the activity, the Japanese Language Study Program of FIB USU received a Certificate of Partnership from the U.S. Consulate in Medan as a form of appreciation for its role and contribution to the AANHPI Heritage Month celebration through the screening of the film Finding Her Beat.

Through this activity, the Japanese Language Study Program of FIB USU was considered to have demonstrated dedication and commitment to promoting education, strengthening cultural exchange, and supporting the development of the creative industry. Cultural exchange activities oriented toward the younger generation were also considered capable of connecting people from various backgrounds, enriching experiences, and building relationships among communities.

The group screening of the film Finding Her Beat was one form of cultural exchange activity that strengthened the relationship between the Japanese Language Study Program of FIB USU and its international partners, particularly the U.S. Consulate in Medan and the Consulate General of Japan in Medan.
