FIB USU PR - The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) carried out the Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) activity on Tuesday - Thursday, 13 - 15 August 2024. PKKMB was held at the USU Mini Stadium and the USU Auditorium. The number of students who took part in this activity was 772 people. The aim of this PKKMB activity is to introduce the life of the USU academic community. It doesn't stop there, PKKMB activities are also being carried out so that all new students of the Class of 2024 can truly recognize and recognize academic values and ethics as well as understand the Higher Education System at USU.
PKKMB USU activities were officially opened by USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si. at USU Mini Stadium. After the main event which was held at the USU Mini Stadium, new students moved to their respective faculties accompanied by their respective faculty leaders and committees. The PKKMB FIB USU activities were officially opened by the Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. Dra. T Thyhaya Zein, M.A. at the USU Auditorium.
FIB USU PKKMB activities involve lecturers, education staff and students. During this activity, there were nine materials presented by the resource persons. On the first day, Tuesday, August 13 2024, there were several speakers, including:
Lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Fernanda Putra Adela, S.Sos., M.A. delivered material on National Insight, namely: (a) Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika; (b) Prevention and control of intolerance, radicalism, terrorism and the spread of conflicting ideas; (c) Defending the country; (d) Mental Revolution;
FIB Lecturer Dr. Rusdi Noor Rosa, S.S., M.Hum. delivered material about the Core Values of the Digital Era, namely: (a) Cultural Values, Ethics and Manners (b) Smart in using Social Media;
FIB Lecturer Prof. Dr. Drs. Jonner Hasugian, M.Sc. delivered material about the Higher Education System in Indonesia, namely: (a) Higher Education System at USU (b) Independent Learning Campus (c) Organization and Services.
On the second day, Wednesday, August 14 2024, there were speakers including:
FIB Lecturer M. Azis Rizky Lubis, S.S., M.A. delivered material on Intellectual Character and Anti-Violence, namely: (a) Prevention and Handling of sexual violence (Bullying); (b) Habits of becoming an effective person;
FIB Lecturer Vivi Adryani Nasution, S.S., MTCSOL. delivered material about Higher Education in the Era of the Industrial Revolution;
Lecturer at the Faculty of Law Eko Yudhistira, S.H., M.Kn. delivered material on Environmental Awareness and a Healthy Campus, namely: (a) Anti-Corruption (ZI WBK); (b) Forming Student Character and Building Student Mental Health; (c) Healthy campus;
FIB Lecturer Bambang Riyanto, S.S., M.Si. delivered material on USU Materials, namely: (a) Profile, (b) USU Core Values/BINTANG Values, (c) USU Hymn & March, (d) Symbols and Tagline, (e) Service Center, ( f) Facilities;
FIB Lecturer Emma Marsella, S.S., M.Si. socializing the Student Creativity Program (PKM);
Head of USU Library Laila Hadri Nst, S.Sos., M.P. presented material to introduce the USU Library.
On the third day, Thursday, August 15 2024, Head of Academic Subdivision Kasnawati, S.E., and Head of Student and Alumni Affairs Subdivision Edy Siswanto, S.S., M.Hum. explained material regarding FIB USU Academic and Student Activities and Services. After presenting the material, the activity continued with an introduction to alumni by the Chair of the FIB USU Alumni Association (IKA) Apriadi Gunawan, S.S.
The PKKMB FIB USU activity also held a video making competition by new FIB USU students which was uploaded to social media. The winner of the competition was announced on the third day. New students in each study program also showcased their talents and held the best chant competition. The PKKMB FIB USU activities were officially closed by FIB USU Vice Dean I Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D.
It is hoped that the PKKMB FIB USU activities can strengthen communication and collaboration between fellow FIB USU students, especially for the new students.
