With the presentation by the presenter, the International Summer Course which was held online was completed. The Summer Course via Zoom Meeting went well, and the Summer Course participants were enthusiastic in listening and asking questions. In the next few days, the Summer Course will be held offline starting from the FIB USU campus and taking a tour to the Deli Sedang and Samosir Museums.

FIB USU PR - Monday, September 11, 2023, was the first day that the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU) carried out International Summer Course activities with the theme "North Sumatra Cultural Diversity Introducing Malay and Batak Cultural Diversity". This Summer Course was carried out by hundreds of online and several offline participants. FIB USU invited lecturers from various universities, namely Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, University of Alberta, and Institut Tekonologi Medan. The first day of the Summer Course was held via Zoom Meeting. The Summer Course was opened with remarks by the Dean of FIB USU Prof. Dr. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A.

 

 

The Summer Course continued with the presentation of material regarding Historical Relics of North Sumatra. Historical Relics of North Sumatra by Drs. Suprayitno, M.Hum., Ph.D. The Summer Course continued with the presentation of material regarding BIPA 1 (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) by Dr. Dwi Widayati, M. Hum. The Summer Course continued with the presentation of material regarding North Sumatra Malay Culture and Arts (North Sumatra Malay Culture and Arts) by Prof. Dr. Rahim Bin Aman from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The Summer Course continued with the presentation of material regarding Malay Pantun as a Form of Social Interaction. Malay Pantun as a Form of Social Interaction by Dr. Noordin Mohd Noor from Universiti Sains Malaysia.

 

Tuesday, September 12 2023, was the second day that FIB USU carried out International Summer Course activities and was also held via Zoom Meeting. The Summer Course began with a presentation of material by Dewarman Sitompul from the Institut Tekonologi Medan. The Summer Course continued with the presentation of material regarding Batak Culture and Arts Batak Culture and Arts by Prof. Julia Byl, Ph.D. from the University of Alberta. The Summer Course continued with the presentation of material regarding The Diversity of Batak Culture in the Toba Caldera Region. Diversity of Batak Culture in the Toba Caldera Region by Prof. Dr. Robert Sibarani, M.S.
