FIB USU PR - On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Undergraduate Program in Chinese Language, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FIB USU), organized a Guest Lecture and Discussion with the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Medan. The event was attended by lecturers and students of FIB USU and took place at the Multipurpose Hall of FIB USU.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A., Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Niza Ayuningtias, S.S., MTCSOL, Head of the Undergraduate Program in Chinese Language, as well as lecturers and students of FIB USU.
In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Dra. T. Thyrhaya Zein, M.A. stated that it was a great honor and privilege for the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, to welcome His Excellency Huang He, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Medan. The Dean also expressed hope that the cooperation and academic exchange between FIB USU and the Consulate General of China would continue to grow and develop in the future.
the Undergraduate Program in Chinese Language of FIB USU has consistently contributed to strengthening students’ linguistic and literary competence, cultural understanding, and international insight. The program has developed not only as an academic discipline, but also as a bridge connecting Indonesia and China through education.
“We would like to express our highest appreciation to the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Chinese Language for her dedication, leadership, and continuous efforts in developing the program so that it remains relevant, competitive, and aligned with global developments,” said the Dean.
She also emphasized that diplomacy is not only built through formal agreements between countries, but also through education, academic dialogue, research collaboration, and the development of young generations who will play important roles in international relations.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Consul General of China for sharing valuable knowledge and insights today. We believe that the perspectives delivered will broaden our understanding and inspire our students to become future generations who uphold cooperation, mutual understanding, and global harmony,” she added.
On this occasion, H.E. Huang He stated that FIB USU has shown long-term commitment to the teaching of the Chinese language and has produced many outstanding talents who play an important role in strengthening the friendship between the people of China and Indonesia.
“Students of FIB USU are expected to become the driving force of Indonesia–China cooperation through the learning of Mandarin and the practice of mutual exchange among civilizations,” said the Consul General.
At the end of the session, H.E. Huang He also presented the historical development of China–Indonesia relations and interacted directly with lecturers and students through a discussion and question-and-answer session.
