

FIB USU PR - Muthia Sari, a student of the Library and Information Science Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Sumatra Utara (USU), won a gold medal at the Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother of Thailand's Challenge Cup, 10th Tirak Taekwondo International Tournament held on October 26-27, 2024. This competition was held at Island Hall, Fashion Island, Bangkok, Thailand (10/31/2024).
This outstanding student departed with a team from the Dinas Pendidikan Deli Serdang consisting of 10 people with a coach named Muhammad Arifin. Each will participate in the competition according to their category. Muthia Sari won a gold medal in the Individual Poomsae category for Women, Age 18-30 Years, with a black belt level.
This competition was held to provide an opportunity for Thai and foreign athletes to compete with each other, allowing them to gain experience and exchange techniques to develop themselves. When athletes compete in other countries, they can find inspiration to develop their self-esteem as well. In addition, this competition will develop relationships between teams and athletes from Thailand and other countries.
In the 9th Tirak Taekwondo international tournament in 2019, there were more than 1200 athletes from 26 countries participating in the tournament, including: Thailand, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Myanmar, Cambodia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Turkmenistan, Oman, China, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, France, Switzerland, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Russia, Bhutan.
This year's tournament was attended by more than 1000 athletes from 28 countries, including: Thailand, Japan, Taipei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, Oman, India, Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, Myanmar, China, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Japan, Singapore, Francis, Russia, Bhutan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan.
Hopefully by participating in this Tirak Taekwondo tournament, Muthia Sari will get the best opportunity to improve her skills and experience to develop her competence and to be successful in the future.
