FIB USU PR - On Monday, August 10, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Workshop on Faculty Article Publication in SINTA 1–2 Accredited Journals and Reputable International Journals (Scopus/WoS) at the FIB USU Multipurpose Hall. The workshop was attended by FIB USU faculty members as part of the faculty’s efforts to strengthen academic capacity and improve the quality of scholarly publications.


The workshop featured Alwi Dahlan Ritonga, S.I.P., M.I.Pol., Manager of Scientific Writing and Publication at the Directorate of Scientific Writing, Publication, and Academic Publishing of Universitas Sumatera Utara, as the speaker. The session was moderated by Adry Wiyanni Ridwan, S.S., who facilitated the presentation and discussion with participants.


The event was also attended by Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., Dean of FIB USU; Dr. Zulfan, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs; Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., CIT, Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure; and Andi Pratama Lubis, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Partnerships, and Internationalization.


During the workshop, faculty members received guidance on strategies for writing and publishing scholarly articles, particularly for submission to SINTA 1–2 accredited national journals and reputable international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). The discussion also emphasized the importance of improving manuscript quality, selecting appropriate journals, and understanding the publication process to increase the likelihood of acceptance in reputable academic journals.


The workshop forms part of FIB USU’s commitment to fostering an academic culture that supports greater productivity and quality in faculty research and scholarly publication. By strengthening publication competencies, research findings are expected not only to be documented through scholarly articles but also to reach broader national and international academic communities.


Dean of FIB USU Mhd. Pujiono, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., together with the faculty leadership, expressed support for the workshop as a strategic initiative to strengthen faculty research performance and scholarly publication. The participation of FIB USU faculty members also highlights the importance of internal collaboration in developing a productive and sustainable research ecosystem.


Beyond strengthening individual academic competencies, the workshop is expected to contribute to enhancing FIB USU’s academic reputation. Publishing in accredited and reputable international journals provides an important avenue for increasing the visibility of research findings while expanding academic networks and opportunities for collaboration with researchers from various institutions.


Through the workshop, FIB USU reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of research and scholarly publications as part of its efforts to advance excellent, innovative, and globally oriented higher education, while strengthening its academic contribution at both the national and international levels.
